EzyRemit Saigontourist Partnership: Connecting Digital Payments with Vietnam’s Tourism Ecosystem
EzyRemit Saigontourist partnership reached a new milestone on August 10, 2026. Specifically, EzyRemit and its digital wallet platform EzyWallet signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Saigontourist Group at the Vietnam-Australia Tech Connect forum in Sydney. Consequently, the agreement establishes a framework for integrating cross-border payment infrastructure into Vietnam’s tourism services.
Furthermore, Tech Connect took place during the state visit to Australia by Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam. As a result, the forum brought together universities, research institutions, enterprises, and investors from both countries. Moreover, the event focused on advancing cooperation in technology, innovation, and the digital economy.
A Vietnamese-language version of this announcement, with additional detail on the four cooperation areas and a statement from EzyRemit Co-founder Allan Nguyen, is available here.

Why the EzyRemit Saigontourist Partnership Matters
Vietnam and Australia elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2024. Specifically, bilateral goods and services trade reached approximately 30 billion AUD in 2025. Furthermore, two-way trade in the first half of 2026 totalled 8.1 billion USD, representing a 22 per cent increase year-on-year.
Additionally, Vietnamese exports to Australia rose 25 per cent to 3.8 billion USD during this period. Therefore, the two governments have set a target of 20 billion USD in annual bilateral trade. Moreover, both sides committed to doubling two-way investment in the coming years.
Consequently, Tech Connect represents an effort to extend this economic relationship beyond traditional sectors. In essence, the EzyRemit Saigontourist partnership bridges fintech infrastructure with one of Vietnam’s most important service industries.
What the EzyRemit Saigontourist Partnership Covers
Under the agreement, EzyRemit and Saigontourist Group will collaborate across four key areas. Specifically, the MoU addresses payment integration, customer connectivity, joint marketing, and loyalty programmes:
- Payment integration: EzyWallet’s digital payment solutions will be researched for integration into Saigontourist’s ecosystem of hotels, tours, and travel services. Consequently, travellers can access cross-border payment tools throughout their journey.
- Customer connectivity: EzyRemit‘s user base in Australia and international markets will connect with Saigontourist’s tourism products and booking infrastructure. As a result, overseas Vietnamese communities gain direct access to travel services.
- Loyalty and value-added services: Both companies will develop joint payment programmes, customer loyalty mechanisms, and ancillary services. Furthermore, these offerings will serve travellers and diaspora communities across both markets.
- Joint marketing and co-branding: EzyRemit and Saigontourist Group will run co-branded digital campaigns and joint promotions, and appear together at travel and technology industry events in both countries.
Therefore, the EzyRemit Saigontourist partnership positions both organisations to address a structural shift in tourism. In essence, payments now span the entire customer journey from reservation through to in-destination spending.
EzyRemit Saigontourist Partnership: The Cross-Border Opportunity
The Australia-Vietnam corridor carries significant financial flows. Specifically, the 2021 Australian Census recorded approximately 335,000 residents of Vietnamese origin. Moreover, 258,000 of these residents were born in Vietnam. Consequently, this community sustains continuous movement of people, capital, and commerce between the two countries.
Furthermore, remittance volumes underscore the scale of this corridor. The World Bank projected approximately 15 billion USD in remittance inflows to Vietnam for 2025. Additionally, Ho Chi Minh City alone received over 10.3 billion USD during this period. As a result, the global average remittance transaction cost, above 6 per cent according to the World Bank, continues to drive demand for more efficient cross-border payment solutions on corridors such as this one.
Moreover, tourism specifically presents an opportunity to serve multiple customer segments simultaneously. These include tourists, students, diaspora families, and businesses operating across both markets. Therefore, the convergence of digital payments with travel services creates a compelling use case for fintech innovation.
Strategic Significance of the EzyRemit Saigontourist Partnership
The MoU reflects a broader convergence between fintech infrastructure and real-economy industries. Specifically, cross-border payments and tourism serve the same underlying flow of people and capital between Australia and Vietnam. Consequently, embedding payment solutions directly into the travel experience addresses a structural gap in how these services currently operate.
Additionally, the signing took place alongside other cooperation agreements at Tech Connect. Specifically, these agreements spanned artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technology, clean energy, critical minerals, and workforce development. As a result, multiple sectors are now benefiting from the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership framework.
Industry Context for the EzyRemit Saigontourist Partnership
Tech Connect follows more than two years of structured cooperation between Australia and Vietnam on technology and innovation. Specifically, the Strategic Technology Centre Australia-Vietnam launched in 2025 to cover AI, cybersecurity, satellite technology, and quantum computing. Furthermore, the Aus4Innovation programme continues to support Vietnam’s broader innovation ecosystem.
Moreover, the inclusion of private-sector agreements at a government-backed forum signals a maturing bilateral relationship. Consequently, commercial partnerships like the EzyRemit Saigontourist partnership are increasingly integrated into the diplomatic and economic agenda. As a result, fintech companies play a growing role in strengthening cross-border economic ties.
